Looking Back at the 2025 List Awards: Celebrating Excellence, Leadership and Impact

As preparations gather momentum for the 2026 edition of The List Awards, it is worth reflecting on the success of last year’s event, which brought together some of Zimbabwe’s most influential leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, innovators and change-makers.

Hosted by Identities Media, The List Awards 2025 celebrated individuals whose contributions continue to shape industries, communities and the nation’s development agenda. The prestigious event served as a platform to honour excellence, innovation, resilience and leadership across various sectors.

The awards attracted distinguished guests from government, business, civil society, academia and the media, creating a unique networking platform that fostered meaningful conversations around leadership, nation-building and sustainable development.

One of the defining features of the awards was its commitment to recognising individuals whose work often goes unnoticed despite having a significant impact on society. Through carefully selected categories, The List Awards showed outstanding achievements in business, sports, community development, youth empowerment, media, innovation and more.

The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women, young professionals and emerging leaders who continue to break barriers and inspire future generations through their dedication and excellence.

Speaking after the event, several award recipients described the recognition as a motivation to continue contributing towards community development.

John Arufandika, received the Emerging Technologies Award for his pioneering work in artificial intelligence.

“The award is in recognition of the large language model that we are building for Southern Africa in 14 languages, which include Bemba in Zambia, Shona in Zimbabwe, Nyanja in Malawi, Sena in Mozambique, Ndebele in Zimbabwe, as well as Tswana in Botswana. This award is a recognition of every African inventor in the field of data science and artificial intelligence,” he said.

Beyond the awards ceremony itself, The List Awards reinforced the importance of celebrating success stories and recognising individuals who are making a difference within their communities and sectors. The platform continues to promote positive role models and encourage a culture of excellence throughout Zimbabwe.

As Identities Media prepares for the 2026 edition, expectations are high for another memorable celebration of achievement, leadership and impact. The upcoming awards promise to build on the success of previous editions while introducing new opportunities to recognise excellence across a diverse range of sectors.

With nominations set to open soon, stakeholders, organisations and members of the public are encouraged to participate in identifying deserving individuals whose contributions are helping to transform Zimbabwe.
