Blessing Chisangano, popularly known as Coach Marcelo, is among the semi-finalists for the Sports Impact Award at The List Awards 2026. The recognition reflects a journey rooted in perseverance, fitness and community service.

Born on 14 September 1991, Chisangano is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of Harare-based Celofitness.

His entry into the fitness industry began when he worked as a gym cleaner and runner, where he took the opportunity to learn from trainers around him while developing a passion for fitness.

According to what he shared with The List Awards by Identities Media, Chisangano’s experience of assisting trainers shaped his belief that fitness can do more than transform physical health.

“I became a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and eventually founded Celofitness,” he said.

Through Celofitness, Chisangano has organised fitness boot camps, community workouts and health-awareness campaigns focusing on drug and substance abuse, men’s mental health, breast cancer, prostate health and gender-based violence.

His community work has also extended beyond exercise. He has mobilised donations of groceries, clothing, stationery and sanitary wear for orphanages, elderly homes, schools and vulnerable families. He has also supported young talent, including helping a promising footballer travel to South Africa for trials.

“My greatest achievement is creating a platform where people can become healthier, disciplined and inspired,” he added.

For Chisangano, creating a platform where people can become healthier, disciplined and inspired remains one of his greatest achievements. Being recognised by The List Awards, he says, would affirm that the work of Celofitness goes beyond physical transformation. It would also provide an opportunity to amplify the message that fitness can be a positive force for social change.

However, his mission is not dependent on the outcome of the awards. Chisangano says winning would provide a bigger platform to reach more young people, while not winning would not derail his work.
