THE STORIES BEHIND THE SPOTLIGHT

THE STORIES BEHIND THE SPOTLIGHT

Official Launch: Identities Media Magazine Issue One

For many years, Identities Media has carried the honour of telling the stories of Zimbabwe and Africa’s unsung heroes, the changemakers who lift our communities with humility, resilience and love. We have walked into homes and fields, boardrooms and clinics, classrooms and city corners, gathering the voices that move our nation in quiet but mighty ways. Through our podcasts, our docu series, our documentaries, our films and every storytelling platform available to us, we have honoured the people who shape the soul of our country and our continent.

We have told the stories of community leaders and youth activists, women on the frontlines and men rebuilding their communities, government leaders reshaping policy, villagers defending dignity, ambassadors and diplomats carrying global solidarity, and everyday Zimbabweans and Africans whose courage often rises without recognition. These are the voices that define our nation, the heartbeat of Hunhu Ubuntu.

This year, under the warm glow of The List Awards, something beautiful and new was born.

Today, we are proud to unveil the first ever Identities Media Magazine, a home for the stories behind the spotlight. It is a place where impact meets storytelling, where the people who lift our nation and our continent are honoured, archived and remembered. This magazine is a celebration of humanity, leadership, Hunhu, Ubuntu and the Africa we continue to believe in.

Inside its pages, the lives of our champions unfold with honesty and heart. Their journeys, their struggles, their triumphs and their purpose take form. These are people who have carried their communities faithfully and quietly, often without being seen. This magazine exists to make sure they are seen, supported and celebrated.

The idea for this publication was planted during The List Awards, when guests watched extraordinary Zimbabweans and Africans walk our red carpet and felt a deep desire to know them more intimately, to support their work, to partner with them and to walk beside them. Every guest left The List Awards with a copy of this magazine, a bridge connecting our finalists and winners with the leaders, diplomats, corporates, philanthropists, policymakers and communities who filled the room.

Inside these pages are not only their stories, but also their contact details, their organisations, their dreams and their call to action. This is our way of ensuring that the doors opened by The List Awards remain open long after the night has passed. It is our way of strengthening the impact of our champions and amplifying the voices that move our continent forward.

This magazine was created as a bridge, linking quiet excellence with powerful opportunity, so that the work done in silence can finally be seen, supported and strengthened.

As we come to the close of 2025, our hearts remain full from the magic of The List Awards earlier this month. The courage in that room, the generosity of Zimbabweans and Africans, the elegance, the tears, the laughter and the quiet strength of our finalists and winners reminded us that our nation is carried every day by giants who rarely ask to be seen.

Introducing Identities Media Magazine Issue One, a celebration of Zimbabwe and Africa’s unsung heroes and changemakers. Inside its pages are the stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, the heartbeat of our communities and the moments that inspired us all.

This magazine is more than a publication.

It is an archive of excellence.
It is a tribute to the people who lift our nation and our continent.
It is a mirror reflecting the strength we carry even in difficult times.
It is a reminder that the best of us lives in the stories we preserve and the lives we touch.

As you prepare for the festive season, may these stories bring you warmth, pride and inspiration. May they remind you that even in challenging times, our people continue to rise with dignity, courage and purpose.

We invite you to read, share and celebrate with us.

May this first issue be a gift of hope to you and yours.
