Angelina Simangele Nyatanga: 1st Runner-Up for the Business Impact Award.

Dr. Angelina Simangele Nyatanga, a prominent community leader and the Managing Director of Jacaranda Textiles, has been recognized as the first runner-up for the Business Impact Award at The List Awards. Her commitment to uplifting her community and driving positive change through her business initiatives has earned her this esteemed recognition.

For Dr. Nyatanga, receiving The List Award is more than just an accolade. “Winning to me doesn’t just mean coming 1st; it’s about my attitude and my ability to learn from failure and my relationship with those around me in my community,” she stated. This philosophy underpins her work as the founder and president of the Zimbabwe Association of Women in Industry (ZAWII), which aims to support community development initiatives and mitigate gender-based prejudices.

Dr. Nyatanga emphasized that the recognition boosts her morale, reinforcing her belief that her efforts are valued in the community. “Knowing that the work I do is valued and that I am making a difference means a lot to me,” she remarked.

One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is the impact she makes on others. “We are placed on this earth for others, not ourselves. Caring has the gift of making the ordinary special,” she explained. This philosophy drives her dedication to community initiatives, including distributing clothes, sports kits, and foodstuffs valued at over $150,000 to those in need.

Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Nyatanga shared valuable advice for aspiring change makers: “Engage with your community, get involved, participate, and volunteer. All this is driven by passion and empathy.” She believes that nurturing relationships within the community is essential for uplifting others.

Her experience with The List Awards has been overwhelmingly positive. “The nomination process was very professional, and the jury’s vote was excellent for my category,” she noted. Despite being the first runner-up, Dr. Nyatanga views this award as a significant motivator to continue pushing for excellence and innovation in her field.

As an alumna, she expressed a desire for increased collaboration and networking opportunities, stating, “Celebrate and showcase change makers’ stories to inspire others, and build bridges between change makers, governments, and corporations.”

Dr. Nyatanga’s dedication to sustainability and community development positions her as a powerful force for change in Zimbabwe. Her impactful work not only uplifts individuals but also inspires a new generation of leaders committed to making a difference.
